Layton Davis Sr., 84, of Van Buren passed away Friday, June 30, 2017, at Memory Lane at Legacy Heights surrounded by his loving family.

He was a 1952 graduate of Alma High School and served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Hickory Springs Manufacturing Co. and was a member of CrossPointe Community Church in Van Buren.

The youngest of ten, Layton was born to Leonard and Lizzie Mae Davis on June 17, 1933, in Dyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lizzy Mae; eight brothers, Willie, Georgie, Silas, Dudgeon, John Paul, Lloyd, Clyde, Delmar; and one sister, Ceicle; and one grandson, Stewart Sargent III.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bonnie of the home; two daughters, Bonnie Kay Reel and husband Ronnie of Russellville, Pam Bennett and husband Clay of Poteau; three sons, Stewart Sargent of Little Rock, Randy Davis and wife Claudia of Greenwood, Layton Davis Jr. and wife Tammy of Hackett; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Celebration of his life will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the CrossPointe Church located at 3304 Kibler Hwy. in Van Buren with burial following at Dyer Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jessie Harrison, Daron Harrison, Matt Bennett, Dennis Johnson, Preston Turner and Alec Berry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Morland, Carol Redwine and Enoch Diffy.

On January 9, 1931, an angel, Bonnie Lea Gilpin Davis was born in Jefferson City, Missouri to Edgar and Gertie Gilpin.
She earned her wings and halo and departed this earth to join her husband, Layton Davis Sr. in heaven on December 16, 2017 at Memory Lane at Legacy Heights surrounded by her loving family.

Bonnie was retired from Wal-Mart and a member of CrossPointe Community Church in Van Buren where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Layton Davis; her brothers, Franky, Evert and Vernon Gilpin; and sisters, Alice Clayton, and Eva Schultz.

Bonnie is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Kay Reel and husband Ronnie of Russellville, and Pam Bennett and husband Clay of Poteau; three sons, Stewart Sargent of Little Rock, Randy Davis and wife Claudia of Greenwood, and Layton Davis and wife Tammy of Hackett; siblings, Dorothy Johnson, Delores Knapp, and Glenn Gilpin; ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

Celebration of her life will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at CrossPointe Church, 3304 Kibler Hwy in Van Buren with burial to follow at Dyer Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be Jesse Harrison, Daron Harrison, Matt Bennett, Dennis Johnson, Alec Berry, and Terry Watkins.
