Kevin Wade Johnson went home to be with his Heavenly Father at 4:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Baptist Health in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Kevin, a resident of Melbourne, Arkansas, was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, July 14, 1963, to Delmas and Betty Johnson. He grew up in Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas, and graduated Mt. Pleasant High School as Valedictorian of his class. An accomplished basketball player, Kevin went on to play collegiate basketball at Arkansas College (now known as Lyon College.). During his time at Arkansas College he received many honors and awards such as AII-AIC, Mr. Arkansas College, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a major in math education. Kevin married his high school sweetheart, Tammy Langston, in August 1981. Together they had three children, the late Joshua Johnson, and Jill and Caleb Johnson.

Kevin was employed at Fireworks World/Bad Boy Mowers in Batesville, Arkansas, where he worked for many years.

At an early age Kevin became a devout Christian and shared his faith in many ways. He taught Sunday school and served as deacon at Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne. Kevin became involved in mission trips to the Dominican Republic and traveled overseas for several years there. Everyone who knew Kevin could see his love for Jesus Christ and his willingness to serve him.

Kevin became sick in October 2005 and after two heart transplants, two stem cell transplants, and various other medical issues Kevin had “fought the good fight” and entered into the presence of his Savior.

Kevin is survived by his parents, his wife Tammy, his children, Jill and Caleb, all of Melbourne and brother, Blane Johnson and wife Suzette of Calico Rock. He had five nieces and nephews, numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Kevin was preceded in death by his son, Joshua Johnson; his grandparents, Bob and Lillian Johnson, and Ezra and Pearl Brooks.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010, at the John E. Miller Building at Ozarka College in Melbourne with Doyne Robertson and Herb Wilson officiating.

Pallbearers are Lennie Foree, Kevin Wiles, Jeff Mynatt, Ryan Howard, Jerry Johnson, Bruce Adams, Kohl Caraway, and Keith Holowell.

Honorary pallbearers are Jake Moser, Brad Cummings, James Miller, Jeff McAnally, Phillip Edwards, Dennis Wilson, Kenny Caraway, Eric Booth, Tom Cone, Wendell Buell, Tony Trotter, Bill Hurst, Brad Foree, David Brogdon, Ryland Kieffer, Mark Herrington, Kermit Blevins, Tim Massey, Wes Hubbard, Rick Caudel, Howard Lamb, Tony Stewart, Bull Bramlett, John Teague, Chris Williams and Trey Lamb.

Burial will be at Melbourne Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2010, at the John E. Miller Building at Ozarka College in Melbourne.

Tammy Diane Langston Johnson Rains went home to be with her Savior at 4:05 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2018 at her home in Melbourne, AR.

Tammy was born in Independence, MO., July 10, 1962, to Howard Paul and Diane Langston.

She graduated from Melbourne High School with the class of 1980, as an accomplished basketball player. She married Kevin Johnson in 1981. Together, they had three children, the late Joshua Johnson, Jill Johnson Grisham, and Caleb Johnson.

After Kevin's Death in 2010, she married Randy Rains on May 13, 2016 and they made their home in Melbourne.

Tammy became a devout Christian at a young age, showing her faith in many ways as a member of Belview Baptist in Melbourne. Over the years, she taught Sunday School, Children's Church, and was involved in many overseas missions. Her love of Christ and others was apparent to all who met her.

Tammy is survived by her parents; her husband, Randy Rains; her children, Jill Grisham (Brad) and Caleb Johnson; her grandchildren, Hayes and Johanna Grisham; and a host of other family and friends.

Tammy was preceded in death by her first husband, Kevin Johnson, and their infant son, Joshua.

Pallbearers are Payton Moore, Clint Harris, Brent Harris, Wade Moore, Brad Grisham, and Blane Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Avery Johnson and Garren Blankenship.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Belview Baptist Church in Melbourne with Brother Herb Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Melbourne Cemetery.
