Obituary
Earl Med Patterson, age 81, of Batesville, Arkansas died Monday, November 10, 2008 at a local hospital. He was born on June 28, 1927 to Ruth and Charley Patterson in Batesville, Arkansas.
Earl and Daphyne married as teenagers and Earl soon joined the Navy. He was a veteran of World War II; prior to and following his enlistment he worked in many areas from newspapers to construction and farming.
Earl took a job and moved his family to Moline, Illinois, where he and his wife started a Mobile Home Sales Company. Earl and Daphyne became very successful and Earl was named to America's Who's-Who in 1974-1975.
Earl and Daphyne retired to Batesville in 1970 although still having holdings in Moline, IL. After retiring they became partners in the Cord-Charlotte Livestock Auction Barn after working there several years Earl retired and passed onto his children and grandchildren all his other holdings.
Earl was a 32 Degree Mason, Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He served as President of the Shrine of Batesville for 2 years and was a lifelong member of the Central Avenue Methodist Church in Batesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lee Harmon.
Earl is survived by his wife of 64 years, Daphyne Patterson of Batesville; a son, Stephen Patterson and his wife, Gail of Moline, Illinois; a daughter, Carol Lee Patterson and her husband, Hassan of Morocco; three grandchildren, Misha Carlson and her husband, Mike and Tyler Patterson both of Illinois and Ethan Elvis of California; four great grandchildren, Gracie, Miranda, Garrett and Ruby Elizabeth; a sister, May D. Clark; two nephews, Pat Clark and Jim Clark both of North Little Rock; a niece-in-law, Anna; two nieces, Ruth Ann Rafenspeyer and Judy Harmon both of Princeton, Connecticut and a host of friends and family who mourn his loss.
Services are Friday, November 14, 2:00 p.m., at the Willis Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Carl Ownbey officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville under the direction of Willis Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers are Jim Clark, Pat Clark, Tyler Patterson, Stephen Patterson and Hassan El Kohen.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4-6 p.m.
The family will be at the Patterson home at 115 Earls Lane in Batesville prior to and after visitation.
