When Samuel Albutt Mason and his twin brother John Samuel were born on September 14, 1849, in Georgia, their father, Dennis, was 19, and their mother, Louisa, was 21. He married Hazy A Mason and they had seven children together. He then married Casey A. R. Simmons and they had one daughter together. He died on November 9, 1908, in Arkansas at the age of 59, and was buried in Old Hickory, Arkansas.
