When Henry W. Wells was born on May 6, 1855, in Griffin, Arkansas, his father, Reuben, was 23 and his mother, Susan, was 20. He married Sarah Francis Kelley on July 31, 1873, in Conway, Arkansas. They had six children during their marriage. He died as a young father on November 7, 1884, in his hometown, and was buried in Old Hickory, Arkansas.


When Sarah Francis Kelley was born on July 26, 1851, in Alabama, her father,George W. Kelley 1816–1887, was 35, and her mother, Permelia Ellender Katro 1822–1894, was 29. She married Henry W. Wells and they had six children together. She also had one daughter from another relationship. She then married Wyley B Hale and they had one son together. She died on October 25, 1924, in Griffin, Arkansas, at the age of 73, and was buried in Old Hickory, Arkansas.

Sarah Francis Kelley married Wyley B Hale on February 17, 1901, when she was 49 years old.
