Kenneth Edsel Anderson, 88, a lifelong resident of Center Ridge, passed away on May 29, 2011. Kenneth was born to John and Anna Paxson Anderson on February 6, 1923. He is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Mary Evelyn Mason Anderson. Together they had four children: Melissa and Garry Polk of Center Ridge; Kenneth Clay and Rita Gray Anderson of Richmond, Texas; Barbara and Gary Hunter of Sherwood; and Melanie Anderson-Hollis of Center Ridge. He was preceded in death by his grandson Lance Hunter. He will be greatly missed by 9 surviving grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Anderson was a member of Harding Street Church of Christ. A World War II Veteran, he served from Omaha Beach through Bastogne, including serving in Patton’s Third Army. He was awarded five bronze stars during his actions in the European Theater; he was also awarded a medal for good conduct. After the war, he attended Arkansas Tech where he played baseball. After marriage to Mary, he began to farm his family’s land in the Grandview Community. He and Mary were awarded the Farm Family of the Year for Conway County in 1980. He loved to eat his dessert first and liked watching old western movies. He left a legacy of the importance of integrity and hard work. He will be missed by many. Service will be held at Harris Funeral Home in Morrilton at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, with burial in Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Harding Street Church of Christ in Morrilton, Arkansas or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital of Memphis.
