Irene Alma Oliger Hawkins age 92, of Little Rock, died Thursday, August 22, 2013. She was born March 18, 1921 on Wolverton Mountain, in Conway County, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth & Claude Oliger; a brother, Oda Oliger; two sisters, Lee Graham and Edna Tanner; a granddaughter, Meredith Lee Hawkins; and her husband of 52 years, Jimmy H. Hawkins. Survivors include two sons, James J. Hawkins (Annette) and Carroll L. Hawkins (Julie); two grandchildren, Madeline Hawkins Cox (Oscar), and Brian J. Hawkins; three great grandsons, Dalton Cox, Layne and Justin Hawkins; two brothers Erwin E. Oliger (Lorene), and J.C. Oliger of Clinton, AR.; one sister, Jean Collar, of Little Rock, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Irene retired from the Arkansas Highway Department after 36½ years of service. She was member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sharing her talents with others. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock. Another service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 24, at the Center Ridge Church of Christ in Center Ridge, AR. A visitation will be held 30 minutes before each service. Burial will be at the Center Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family would like to thank all the loving and caring staff at Emeritus at Pleasant Hills Retirement Center, and the Assisted Living Staff, for the special treatment, and excellent care Irene received while she was there. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Southern Christian Home, 100 W. Harding St., Morrilton, AR 72110-2018 or a charity of your choice.
