Mr. Speer was born in Wynne, the son of James Franklin Earl Speer and Annie Belle (Haynes) Speer. He married Miss Hermie Lee Miller on May 1, 1948.

Mr. Speer served in the US Army. He was a member of the Jolly Ellis Methodist Church and worked at Sanyo in shipping and receiving for many years before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed coon hunting, raising redbone coon dogs and his cattle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother: Bertha Ellen Marie Cox Speer and one sister: Lola Mae Lamb.

His survivors include his wife; son: Roger and wife Sheila Speer; two daughters: Debbie White and husband Gary, Cherie Resconich and husband George; three brothers: Howard Speer and wife Lillie, James Speer, Jr. and wife Pam, Jerry Speer and wife Judy; three sisters: Frances Maynar, Lucille Hooven and Shirley Skibbe and husband Arthur; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
