Zelmo Sampson Jesse was born on September 13, 1923 to Mr. & Mrs. Sampson Jesse. He professed a hope in Christ in 1937 and joined the Paynes Chapel A.M.E. Church. He remained there until it was no longer a church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sampson and Kanzetta Byrd Jesse, along with two sisters, Flossia Elizabeth Perry and Elnora Mariah Garrette.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1943. He received an honorable discharge in 1944.
He loved good quartet singing. His favorite quartets were the Dixie Hummingbirds, the Five Blind Boys, along with the Canton Spiritual Singers from Mississippi. He loved discussing the bible. This was one of his favorite things to do, along with singing and playing his harp.

He is survived by one daughter, Loreatha Fobbs of Marion, Ohio, one brother Isaiah Jesse of Menifee, Arkansas and three grandchildren, Renee Fobbs and Paul Fobbs III both of Columbus, Ohio and James B. Fobbs of Marion, Ohio and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Mr. Jesse will be Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Hickory Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Morrilton, Arkansas by Rev. W. W. Walker.

Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery in Morrilton.
