Benjamin Eugene Taylor, 71, of Clarksville died Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at Alma. He was a retired production employee, son of the late Samuel and Mary Taylor, Army veteran, and professional baseball player including 3 years in the majors.
Was a professional baseball player 1951-55, 1st baseman for the St louis Browns, Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Braves, Survivors include his widow, Mrs Gloria Rochelle Taylor; 1 step daughter, Trisha Breeds of Seattle, Washington; 1 stepson, Perry Ahlfinger of Brighton, Colorado; 2 sisters, Margaret Jones and Betty Remy, both of Metropolis, Illinois; 3 brothers, Jack Taylor of Paducah, Kentucky, Goose Taylor of Metropolis, Illinois, and Louis McClaine of New Mexico; and 4 grandchildren.
