Billy Joe Wilkins, 92, of Mulberry passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, in his home.

He was a retired city building inspector for the City of Van Buren, a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II with the 321st Glider Field Artillery Battalion, 101st Airborne Division and U.S. Navy Reserves, a member of the Van Buren Masonic Lodge No. 6 and of the Baptist faith.

He was born May 11, 1925, in Van Buren to the late J.T. and Carrie (Bowers) Wilkins. He was also preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ocker Chapel in Alma with interment in Mulberry New Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Alma.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Wilkins of the home; one daughter, Kay Baxter and husband Gary of Mulberry; one son, Doug Wilkins and wife Marty of Mulberry; two sisters, Elizabeth Adams of Monroe, La., and Sue Ivey of Oklahoma City.; one brother, Johnny Wilkins and wife Phil of Van Buren; seven grandchildren, Gary R. (Stephani) Baxter, Dayna (Mark) Lewis, Chad (Teika) Wilkins, Rebecca (Gary) Whittington, Aubri (Shawn) Walsh, Daniel McBryde and Ashley McBryde; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Sarah Grace, Lily, KatyBeth, KaraLyse, Adam, Magdalen, Austin (Sydnie), Brandon, Tanner, Allyson, Breanna, Conner, Nate and Avery.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
