Joseph Elbridge Pickett the husband of Verlene (Burns) Pickett. Joseph Elbridge Pickett the son of Richard Ray Pickett and Noma (Spotts) Pickett.
Joseph Elbridge Pickett, 86, of Pocahontas, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at Randolph Home.
Born March 18, 1926, in Shady Grove, he was the son of Richard Ray and Noma Spotts Pickett. He was a retired cattle farmer and was retired from the Arkansas Highway Transportation Department. He also served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a member of the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Pickett, Bill Pickett and Charles Pickett; and two sisters, Gladys Pickett and Elizabeth Stubblefield.
Survivors include his wife, Verlene Burns Pickett; children, Sheri Midkiff and husband David, Portia, Karen Pickett Case and husband Steve, Paron, and Gary Pickett and wife Norma, Pocahontas; a sister, Mary Geneva Bottoms, Derby, Kans.; two grandchildren, Joseph Midkiff and wife Sarah, New York City, and Joshua Pickett, Jonesboro; a great-granddaughter, Clementine Midkiff, New York City; and several nieces and nephews, Mary Jo Gwaltney, Mona Stecklein, Richard Pickett, Brian Pickett, Craig Burns, Jan Sanders, David Burns, Debbie Woods, Warren Burns and Russell Burns.
Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas with Revs. Charles Abanathy and Matthew Donner officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery at Imboden. Special music will be performed at graveside by Stephen Midkiff.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Ravenden Springs, AR 72460 or to Alheimer's Association.
