Christine McFarland Munford, age 98, of Banks, Arkansas died Thursday, March 29, at St John’s Place, Fordyce. She was born September 17, 1913 at Banks, Arkansas a daughter of the late Auburn McFarland and Hattie Smith McFarland. She was, a clothes designer for Kellwood Designer Company, Little Rock for 20 years; a Sears Roebuck provider, a long time member of the Banks Extension Club, member Robert Abernathy Chapter of D.A.R., Fordyce Extension Homemaker, Fordyce First Methodist Church Beacons, Daisy Garrett Circle, Gleaners Sunday School Class and a member of Fordyce First Methodist Church and a member of the Banks City Council for 30 years. She married Morgan Munford on October 8, 1932 at Banks and he died March 3, 1995. Surviving is a son David Munford (Polly), Tyler, Tex; a daughter Karen Archer (Derwood), Fordyce, Ark; a brother Roy Herbert McFarland, Jefferson, Tex; 3 sisters MayDean Sweatman, Banks, Ark, Bobbie Sue Whisenhunt, Fort Smith, Ark. and Nelsie Bershen, Monroe, La; grandchildren Steve Swan, Kristina Swan Peters (Johnnie), David Archer (Kim), Joe Archer (Shannon) and Allison Archer Parker (Brent) and great grandchildren Zach Davis, Chris Peters, Sara Peters, Paul Swan, Nicholas Archer, Lauren Archer, Ashton Archer, Jameson Archer, Ellis Parker, Charli Parker. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Peggy Swan; 3 brothers A. J. McFarland, Curtis McFarland, Ernest McFarland and a sister Aubrey Jerine McFarland. Funeral sevices 2:00pm Saturday, March 31, at Frazer’s Chapel Rev. John Fimple and Rev. David Archer officiating. Nicholas Archer was the soloist. Burial in McFarland Cemetery at Banks by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren. Active Pallbearers were Steve Swan, Johnnie Peters, David Archer, Joe Archer, Brent Archer, Zach Davis, Chris Peters, Paul Swan and Nicholas Archer. Memorials preferred Fordyce First Methodist Church; 104 E. 4th.; Fordyce, AR. 71742 or McFarland Cemetery Assoc. C/O Karen Archer; 1788 W. Highway 8; Fordyce, AR. 71742.
