Justin Lehman McFarland age 28, of Camden, AR, passed from this life on May 16, 2014, after a tragic accident. He was born November 1, 1985 in New Orleans, LA a son of Gale Allen McFarland, Camden, AR and Janice Marie Jackson McFarland, Jupiter, FL. In July 1988, he moved with his parents to Camden, Arkansas where his father established the Camden Urology Clinic as a solo practitioner and his mother became a nursing instructor after earning her advance practical nursing degree. Justin was a May, 2004 Graduate of Camden-Fairview High School and member of First Presbyterian Church of Camden. He attended film and multi-media classes at SAU-Tech in Camden, but left to join the U. S. Army in 2005. Justin went through infantry basic training and AIT at Fort Benning, GA, and was immediately deployed on a combat mission with the 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, New York, to Afghanistan. Specialist Justin McFarland was a mortar man in Afghanistan, serving at various outposts, including the Korangal Valley, where he saw active combat. After a 18 month deployment, he was assigned to his home base at Fort Drum, N.Y. Justin was honorably discharged in October 2008. He attended college at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and El Centro College in Dallas, Texas, where he was pursuing a career in forensics. Justin was an avid sports fan, especially when cheering on the New Orleans Saints. He also enjoyed hunting, working out and reading crime stories. Justin would want to be remembered for being a good soldier-a U. S. Army infantryman who served his country in combat. He made his mom, dad and brothers very proud of him. His final statement would be, “I want only the best for my family in the future”. Justin is survived in addition to his parents by his stepmother Wendy Andrews McFarland, Camden, AR and 4 brothers Steven McFarland, Jupiter, Fl, Wesley McFarland, Travis McFarland and Jack McFarland all of Camden, AR. Funeral services were 2:00pm Wednesday, May 21, at Frazer’s Funeral Home with Rev. Erin Kaye officiating. Linda Barrett was organist. Active pallbearers were Brandon Horn, Jim Andrews, Gale McFarland, Jack McFarland, Wesley McFarland, and Travis McFarland. Honorary pallbearers were Rick McFarland and Steve McFarland. Burial with Military Honors in McFarland Cemetery at Banks by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren. Memorials preferred McFarland Cemetery, c/o Ginger Ricks, 125 Bradley 377, Banks, AR. 71631
