Obit:
Mrs. Cora Geneva Mears Newton, age 80, a resident of Provo, Arkansas, and former resident of Alleene, Arkansas, died Monday, April 1, 2013 in the Christus St. Michael Health System, Texarkana.
She was born to John Mack Enry and Ethel Seastrunk Mears at Alleene, Arkansas on October 14, 1932. She was a retired nurse as well as a homemaker. She attended the Calvery Missionary Baptist Church in Lockesburg, and had a passion for cooking.
She was preceded in death by a her parents, a brother, John Kenneth Mears, and a son-in-law, Bobby Bradshaw.
Cora is survived by her husband of over 62 years, J. D. Newton of Provo, Arkansas, a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Clayton and Jonnie Newton of Provo, a daughter, Wannell Bradshaw of Provo, five grandchildren and their spouses, Chad and Carmella Bradshaw of Provo, Mindy Simmons of Provo, Amanda and Jason Miller of Provo, Onawa and James Hughes of Gillham, and Tawana Newton of Provo, sixteen great-grandchldren, two sisters, Mary Frances McGraw of Irving, Texas, and Elsie Echols of Irving, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Cora Newton will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4th in the Alleene Community Building, Alleene, Arkansas with Rev. Wesley Blankenship and Rev. Larry Fry officiating.
Burial will follow in the Alleene Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3rd in the Chandler Funeral Home chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
