SCHAUM, Jacob - Jacob Schaum, a resident of Bentonville for 34 years, died at his home near Park Springs suddenly on Saturday, May 23rd, 1925 at 1:15 o'clock. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A.W. Henderson, were held at the Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon and interment made in the city cemetery. He was born in Notzinger in the Kingdom of Wittenburg, Germany on Aug. 16th, 1845. He came to America in 1868, coming to Illinois, where he settled at Brighton in Macoupin county. That same year he united with the German Methodist Church. In 1872 he was married to Miss Emma McMinamie. To this union was born 4 children, one of whom died in infancy, a son died in young manhood and a daughter who also died in early life. Mrs. Schaum died in Brighton, Ill. in 1882. He was married the second time to Mrs. Anna Urbach in St. Louis in 1890. Five children were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. Schaum moved his family to Arkansas in 1891 and purchased land in the Miller neighborhood northwest of Bentonville where he lived before locating in Bentonville. He united with the Presbyterian church in the Miller neighborhood and transferred his membership to the local church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Schaum and 5 daughters: Mrs. Anderson, Greenville, Ala.; Mrs. Rex Chambers and Mrs. George Rakes of Bentonville; Miss Louise Schaum, Joplin, Mo.; Miss Lora Schaum, Fort Smith, two step children, Mrs. Jess Crabaugh, Bentonville; and Gus Urbach, Kansas City. Also a sister in Germany, one brother in Eustis, Nebraska and ten grandchildren.
