When James Alvis Stover was born on November 7, 1886, in Alabama, his father, Lorenzo, was 26 and his mother, Vernetta, was 20. He married Manda Isabel Flowers on November 8, 1905. They had three children during their marriage. He died on April 24, 1975, in Morrilton, Arkansas, at the age of 88, and was buried in Center Ridge, Arkansas.
