Mary Dell Bryant Maxey, age 78, of Walls, MI, formerly of Morrilton, AR, passed away, Saturday, July 30, 2016.
She was born in Houston, Arkansas, the daughter of John Homer Bryant and Alma Ophelia Freeman Bryant. She attended Perryville High School through her junior year and received her GED in Morrilton, AR. She married Bobby John Maxey in May of 1954 and was a military housewife until her husband retired in 1970. Both of their children were born overseas in England. During their military tenure they lived in Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, England and Panama. After retirement they moved to Perryville, AR, and Mary started working at Levi Strauss in Morrilton and she worked for CM Vending, the bowling alley and finally, Wal-Mart. She moved to Portales, NM in 2000 to be closer to her son, Rickey and continued working at Wal-Mart until she retired in 2012. She then moved to Walls, MI to live with her daughter, Sherry Kaye Flynn. Mary enjoyed working because it allowed her to socialize with customers and co-workers. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Clovis, NM. She was a Christian and was baptized in Texico, NM. She kept close ties with the Maxey family long after her husband, Bobby John died and made herself available to them in times of need until she moved from the area. She passed away the same day her husband passed- July 30th and she will be buried on her 79th birthday in celebration of her rebirth into heaven.
She is survived by her children, Sherry Kaye Flynn; and her husband Laney Flynn of Walls, MI; and Rickey Alan Maxey and wife Julie Lynn Maxey of Portales, NM; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, at Center Ridge Cemetery in Center Ridge, AR by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
