When Martha Elizabeth Owens Prince was born on April 1, 1849, her father, George, was 25, and her mother, Pollie, was 19. She was married three times and had eight sons and seven daughters. She died on July 1, 1933, in Center Ridge, Arkansas, at the age of 84, and was buried there.
