When Mary Etta Holmes was born in November 1853 in Arkansas, her father, William, was 32. She married Jesse Calvin Calloway Hill in 1865 in Conway, Arkansas. They had nine children in 27 years. She died on May 29, 1924, in Center Ridge, Arkansas, at the age of 70, and was buried there.
