Bill Bly, 88, of Granbury, Texas, passed away December 5, 2013. Bill was born on April 20, 1925, in the Jamestown Community, to the late Zack and Rena Bly. He was a child of the Great Depression, and worked for the CCC as a teenager, building roads into Mt Magazine State Park. He later joined the Navy and served in the Pacific until the end of World War II. He married the love of his life, Edythe, in 1948, and they reared 5 children together. Their union lasted 62 years, when his beloved Edythe passed away in 2010. In addition to his parents and wife, Bill is preceded in death by a son, Michael.Bill was a smart man and a hard worker, he worked 2 jobs most of his life to support his family. He loved his family, his friends and his life. Even when facing adversity, he was able to enjoy the little things in life. The week before he died, he was teaching his son-in-law, Alden, how to play San Antonio Rose on the fiddle.Bill is survived by 4 children, son, Zack of San Antonio, daughter, Billie and son-in-law Alden of Granbury, son, Luke and daughter-in-law Pat of Port Lavaca, and daughter, Jackie and son-in-law Doug of Dallas; 6 grandchildren, Anna Short, Jonny and Jeremy Moore, Sharon Sparks, Tammy Cook and Chris Bly; 2 brothers, Tom and Jim Bly, both of Heber Springs; 2 sisters, Barbara Pharis of Little Rock and Lavada Casey of Clarksville; 18 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tom Bly, Jim Bly, Jeremy Moore, Jonny Moore, Tommy Bly and Alden Moore.
