Martha Sammons, 38, died at her home near Norfork, on Sunday, January 28, 1917. The daughter of Richard and Mary Clarcey White Thrasher was born March 11, 1878. She married Albert Osina Sammon in Baxter County on June 5, 1904.
Mrs. Sammons is survived by her husband and seven children of the home; Lois Leon, Lela Ora, Lloyd Benjamin, Len Carmi, Laura Garmi, Ruby Rufel, and Martha Cleo. Other survivors include her mother, Mary Clarcey Thrasher; six brothers, J.V. Thrasher, Arthur Thrasher, Lafayette Thrasher, Edward Lee Thrasher, Rufus Thrasher and Trular Thrasher; and three sisters, Donnie Martin, Buelah Cody, and Loama Thrasher.
Martha Sammons was preceded in death by a young son, J.V., who died earleir this year, and by her father, Richard Thrasher.
Funeral services for Martha Sammons were held at the Galatia Church at Old Joe. Burial was in the Galatia Cemetery.
(No obituary was located for Martha Sammons. this obituary was constructed from the Thrasher family history written by Joan Grand Simpson and published in the July 2004 issue of the 'Izard Coutny History' and the Sammons family history written by Mrs. Simpson which was published in the 'History of Baxter County, Arkansas'.
