Marilyn June (Frizzell) Woods the daughter of Isaac Herndon Frizzell and Audie Lee (Foster) Frizzell. Charles Ray Woods Sr the son of Lester and Juanita Dale Woods.

MELBOURNE — Charles Ray Woods Sr., 78, of Melbourne died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at his home.

Born Sept. 11, 1935, in Sidney, he was the son of Lester and Juanita Dale Woods.

He was united in marriage to June Frizzell on Sept. 26, 1956, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Zion.

He managed Miller's Supermarket for 33 years. Upon retiring from Miller's, he was a sales representative for Proctor and Gamble for approximately three years before joining Quality Flooring of Melbourne. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Maxville Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City.

Survivors include a son, Charles Ray Woods Jr. of Millington, Tenn.; a daughter, Gwen Dixon of Melbourne; a brother, J.B. Woods of Little Rock; two sisters, Wanda James of Coldwater, Miss., and Faye Robbins of Fort Smith; and five grandchildren, Emily Dixon Baker, Hilary Dixon, Liam Dixon, Alex Woods and Austin Woods.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years; a granddaughter, Meredith Dixon; two brothers, Everett Woods and Dowl Woods; and a sister, Ann Onstead.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Howard Memorial Funeral Chapel in Melbourne with Rick Burke and Gale Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Pat Davidson, Gayle Woods, Travis Woods, Rayburn Finley, Mike Rush and James Miller.

Marilyn June Woods age 71 of Melbourne died Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the home. She was born on Sunday, September 13, 1936 to Isaac Herndon and Audie Lee Foster Frizzell in Zion, Arkansas.

June worked for the Bank of Melbourne when it was located behind the courthouse square. She also kept and loved many teachers’ children during the school years in her home. She also spent several years as a teacher’s aide with the Melbourne School District.

Charles and June started their family in Kansas City, Kansas. There they were long standing members of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. All during this time she was allowed to serve the Lord with one of her many passions and talents as church pianist. They moved back to Melbourne in 1969; joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where once again God used her as church Pianist. Just recently they joined the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City. June graduated from Melbourne High School in 1953-54 and still enjoyed visiting with some of her old school buddies.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter Meredith Lauren Dixon.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years Charles Woods Sr. of the home; one son Charles Woods Jr. (Chuck) and his wife Nancy of Millington, Tennessee; one daughter Gwen Woods Dixon of Melbourne; five grandchildren Emily Dixon, Hilary Dixon, Liam Dixon, Alex Woods and Austin Woods; one sister Carole Worthington of Oxford, Mississippi; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. with at the Roller Crouch Chapel in Melbourne with Brother Boyce Johnson and Brother Rickey Burke officiating.

Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery near Zion.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Chapel from 6-8 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Travis Woods, Gayle Woods, Rayburn Finley, Mike Box, Pat Davidson and James O. Miller.
