JOHNSON, Hugh L. - {from Johnson} The entire neighborhood was shocked to learn Thursday morning that Hugh L. Johnson was lying at the point of death and not expected to recover from a paralytic stroke which had affected his brain a few hours before. Drs. Cowgill and Gregg were hurriedly summoned but medical aid could not avail against such a serious attack and death relieved his tired spirit at 3:12 Thursday evening. Hurried messages had been sent to his relatives and those who live nearby were here when the end came. His brother, J.O. Johnson, who resides in Ft. Smith, reached here a short time afterwards, as did his sister, Mrs. Joe Arnett of Arnett, Ark. Mrs. Ina Sisk, a sister residing in Oxford, Miss., arrived Saturday morning. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Johnson, were making an overland trip to Oxford, Miss. and their whereabouts could not be learned for two days during which time messages were sent to a number of towns along their supposed route and they were found late Friday night at Newport, Ark. They arrived here Tuesday and burial services were held Wednesday at the family cemetery near Harris. H.L. Johnson was about 35 years of age and had been in the merchandise and milling business here for the past 15 years, during which time a large circle of friends had learned to esteem him for many noble traits and their loving sympathy goes out to the sorrowing relatives who mourn the going of Hugh.
