Emily Butler married John Wesley Sweeden in Arkansas on October 27, 1872, when she was 33 years old.
When Emily Butler was born on April 12, 1839, in Edgefield, South Carolina, her father, George, was 39, and her mother, Rachel, was 38. She had two sons and one daughter with William Thomas Brice. She then married John Wesley Sweeden and they had three children together. She died on November 6, 1917, having lived a long life of 78 years.
