Oscar D. Colvin, 57, of 846 S. Jackson Ave., died Monday morning in a local hospital following a brief illness. Born Feb. 15, 1911 in Bradley County, he was the son of Emma Hamilton and Charlie C. Colvin. He had been a resident of Union County for several years. Mr. Colvin was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of American Legion Roy V. Kinard Post No. 2, and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 2413. He was custodian of the VFW hut. Survivors include two sons, Sherry D. Colvin and Milford Terrell Colvin, both of Crossett; two daughters, Mrs. Harriette Williams of Crossett and Mrs. Shirley Jummonville of New Orleans, La.; four brothers, Collin C. Colvin of El Dorado and Willie I. Colvin, Johnny E. Colvin and Sam A. Colvin, all of Engles, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Stanley and Mrs. Frances Orr, both of Engles, and Mrs. Lillie Hargis of Hermitage; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Young's Chapel with the Rev. Gary M. Jones officiating. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery. There will be a flag presentation service at the graveside by the VFW Post No. 2413. Pallbearers will be Emmett E. Lewis, Hubert Perdue, Joe Carroll, J. B. Moore, James B. Henry and H. D. (Zeke) Lindsay. Honrary pallbearers will be the members of the VFW. (El Dorado Times - June 11, 1968)
