M. E. Jones, 71, of 825 E. Cedar St., died Thursday night in a local hospital after a brief illness. Born in Choudrant, La., on May 5, 1896, he was the son of Jasper and Ada Younse Jones. He had been a resident of El Dorado since 1923 and was the retired owner and operator of Randolph Sporting Goods. He was a member the First Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ada Huckabee Jones; and four sisters, Mrs. Carrie Kinman and Mrs. Vernice Green, both of Choudrant, Mrs. Genia Calhoun of West Monroe, La., and Mrs. Kathleen Hogan of Dallas, Tex. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the First Methodist Church with Dr. Alvin Murray and Rev. Jack Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Arlington under the direction of Young's. Active pallbearers will be Otis E. Faulkner, Collie Vernon, Earl Martin, Thomas M. Green, Robert White and Louie Osborne. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jack Sheppard and members of the Francis Asbury Sunday School Class of the First Methodist Church. (El Dorado Times - December 23, 1967)
