Charley Warren passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018, at the age of 84 years. Charley was born to the union of Charley Warren Sr. and Annie B. Jones Warren on June 24, 1933 in Vanndale.
Charley graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Arkansas Agriculture Mechanical & Normal College (AM&N) and East Arkansas Community College. He served in the Navy 20 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the Navy, he was employed with Southwestern Bell as a supervisor and retired with 20 years of service.
During his youth Charley attended First Baptist Church with his parents and was baptized at an early age. Upon returning home with his family, he renewed his membership with First Baptist Church. He was ordained as Deacon and was a faithful member until his death.
Charley was a member of the Pilgrim Lodge #55, Patron of the Eastern Star Fredonia Lodge #62, AARP, life member of the NAACP and worked as a committee member of the Maroon and Gold National Association for many years.
His son Brian Anthony Warren; two brothers, Clarence Warren and Isaac Warren, and a sister, Carrie Hill, preceded him in death.
Charley leaves to cherish fond memories by his loving wife, Ellen, and his children Cassandra (Bobby) Early of Little Rock and Charley Warren III (Shantel) of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Connikhia, Nivea, Jasmine, Charley IV, and Chase B.; three great-grandchildren, Francois Jr., Tumaine and Jeremy; sisters, Charlene Warren, of Forrest City, Martha Warren Dugans, of Los Angeles, Calif. and Hazel Warren Sims, of Memphis; one brother, Cecil (Alline) Warren, of Dallas, Texas; and a host of relatives including,nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 21, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Kincaid Funeral Services. There will also be a viewing Thursday, March 22, 2018, at 10 a.m., prior to the services at the Historic First Baptist Church, 306 East Cross Street. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2018, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Frank Mull III delivering the eulogy and Rev. James Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 3600 AR 163, Birdeye, AR 72324. Kincaid Funeral Services of Forrest City is in charge of arrangements.
