Ist Sgt. Wayne Ball, 69, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at Five Rivers Hospital in Pocahontas, AR.

Wayne moved from Missouri to Jonesboro in 2006. Wayne served 21 years in the U.S. Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam and was stationed in Germany. He also retired from Missouri Department of Corrections. Wayne enjoyed fishing and boating and loved his horses. He gave horse and wagon rides to children with down syndrome and those in orphanages. He also took train rides with his grandsons. Wayne was a Baptist.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Rethel Painter Ball and four brothers, Jim Flowers, J.D. Flowers, Loudean Patterson and Johnny Mac Ball.

Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Perusse (Kolby) of Cabot; one brother, Dennis Ball of Lake City; two sisters, Ruth Morris of Walnut Ridge and Paulette Wessell of Jonesboro; four grandchildren, Austin, Kevin and Brandon Daugherty and Haley Perusse; and three great-grand-children.

A graveside service was held at Birdeye Veteran Cemetery. Arrangements were by: Emerson Funeral Home.
