Clarence "Ed" Dement, 74, of Jonesboro, AR., died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
He was born in Egypt, Ark., to the late Lonie and Mary Parnell Dement and grew up in Walnut Ridge.
Ed entered the military, serving in the Army and also in the National Guard until his retirement. He lived most of his adult life in Jonesboro. He worked as a mechanic and later owned Ed Dement Construction and Ed Dement Trucking. He loved motor sports and flying, and he held a commercial pilot license.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Striffler Dement; son, Jerry L Dement; and granddaughter, Katlyn Dement, all of Jonesboro; brother, Charles D. Dement of Imboden; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Burial with military honors was in Birdeye Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Arkansas Funeral Care. Jonesboro Sun, June 2, 2013.
