James Steven Blaxton “Shorty”, 66 of Black Rock, Arkansas passed from this life Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge. He was born February 9, 1949 to Bill and Verna Glaudine Wood Blaxton. He was a longtime resident of Craighead and Poinsett counties before moving to Lawrence County 15 years ago. He was a carpenter/construction worker and of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Billy Joe Blaxton and Butchie Blaxton.

He is survived by wife, Rosemary Blaxton of the home; sons, Steven Blaxton of Trumann, Justin Blaxton and wife Stacey of Jonesboro; step son, Paul Ragsdale of Black Rock; step daughters, Mary Noles and husband John of Jonesboro and Jessica Ragsdale of Black Rock; brother, Johnny Blaxton of Jonesboro; sister, Carol Armstrong of Mt. Home; 5 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; He was also the guardian of granddaughter Natalie Ragsdale.

Graveside Service will be, Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye, Arkansas

Visitation will be held prior to service with John Noles officiating.

Pallbearers: Steven Blaxton, Justin Blaxton, Dale Hooks, Jimmie Lyles, Jack Noles and Chris Armstrong.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
