Mr. Kenneth L. “Buddy” George, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, formerly of Trumann and Harrisburg, departed this life, October 27, 2014, at his home, at the age of 66.
He was born January 21, 1948 in Trumann, Arkansas, the son of James Homer George and Pauline Tillery George.
Buddy was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in Vietnam. He served for six years and then suffered a stroke that disabled him and ended his naval career. He remained dedicated to his country was proud of his service. He married Shirley Miller August 12, 1978 and they enjoyed 36 years together. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Trumann and was very active in his church. He enjoyed buying and selling cars, especially classic cars. He mowed yards for many years and enjoyed vacations and time at the beach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth L. George, two brothers, Johnny Paul George and Donald Wayne George, a sister, Martha F. Dunn, and a grandchild, Ryan Fracek.
He is survived by his wife Shirley George of the home, seven children, Diana Moore (Eric) of Harrisburg, Donna Oliver (Randall) of Mountain Home, April Kirby (Paul) of Harrisburg, Angela Farley (James) , Kevin L. George, Kimberly Stuart (Lee) and Kristyn George (Greg Bean), all of Jonesboro, five siblings, James E. George of Jonesboro, Robert Allen George of Quana, TX, Jimmie Lou Garcia of South Bend, IN, Virginia Kelso of Sikeston, MO, and Dorris J. Covelli of Harrisburg, eight grandchildren, Ashley Noel, Brandon Moore, Michael Moore, Matthew Fracek, Sarah Oliver, Kelsey Kirby, Kaley Kirby, and Hannah Belcher, and one great grandchild, Bryleigh Madison Kirby.
Funeral services were at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery at Birdeye.
