Jerry was born in Carlisle, Arkansas on November 1, 1950, to Robert Joseph Cotton and Lillian Burgess Cotton. He was a farmer and a member of Smith Center Church of God. Jerry served his country during Vietnam in the U. S. Marines. In 1975, Jerry married Edna Benefield Cotton.

Survivors are his wife, Edna Cotton of Hickory Ridge, Arkansas, daughter, Tasha Cotton (Randall Robbins), brother, Harold Cotton of DeWitt, Arkansas grandsons, Kaden Patterson and Mikey Robbins. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10 AM at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery at Birdeye with military honors.
