When John Alfred Zimmerman was born on November 13, 1895, in Hattieville, Arkansas, his father, Alfred, was 36 and his mother, Clementina, was 38. He married Josephine "Josie" Mary Gottsponer on March 6, 1916. They had eight children in 13 years. He died on November 23, 1965, in Morrilton, Arkansas, at the age of 70.
