James Harold McNew, of Forrest City, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.
James was born on March 29, 1942 in Cleveland, Ark., to Tommy Allen McNew and Alphine Jones McNew. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy McNew of Forrest City; sons, Billy McNew of Forrest City and Gary McNew of West Palm Beach, Fla.; brothers, Tom McNew of Cleveland, Ark. and Ed McNew of Greenbrier; sisters, Sue New of Wynne and Ganun Laduke of Walterville, Ore.; grandchildren, Angela "Renee" Marshal of Olive Branch, Miss., David McNew of Fayettville and Nathan McNew of Florida; great-grandchildren, Mariah McNew of Fayetteville, Emma Marshall and Brooklyn Marshall, both of Olive Branch, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster Allen McNew and Alphine Jones McNew; a sister, Lola Gibbons and a brother, Louis Vernon McNew. Visitation was held today, Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Connect Point Church in Forrest City, from 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral services following at 11 a.m.
Burial was in Lost Corner Cemetery in Cleveland, Arkansas at 3:30 p.m., with Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
