BENTONVILLE - Marilyn Janette "Jan" Whittle, 57, of Bentonville passed away Oct. 24, 2014, in Bentonville. She was born July 16, 1957, in Bentonville to Grady Sims and Verginia McNelly Sims. Jan graduated from Bentonville High School in 1976, where she also taught school for six years.
She enjoyed working with children Jan owned and operated a daycare for 17 years.
She and her husband Pastor Rick founded Freedom Worship Center in Rogers, where she was a Sunday school teacher. Jan loved her time she shared with her eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Grady Sims; one brother, Harvey Sims; her grandparents, Francis and Hazel McNelly, and stepdad, Bill Warren; and stepbrother, Mike Warren; nephew, Frank Sims.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor Rick Whittle of the home; son, Cory Prim and wife April of Bentonville; daughter, Brandy Blue and husband Buddy of Little Flock; son, Stephen Whittle and wife Sarah of Springdale; her mother, Verginia Warren of Bentonville; sister, Diane Price of Bentonville; brother, Steve Sims and wife Cathy of Gravette; stepsister, Tammy Warren of Pea Ridge; and her eight grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at Harbor of Praise Church in Bentonville with Pastor Roy Roughton and Pastor Hank Gorman officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakes Cemetery, Bentonville. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Harbor of Praise Church.
