When Elijah A West was born on July 5, 1858, in Petit Jean, Arkansas, his father, Owen, was 39 and his mother, Jane, was 36. He married Laura C Brown on October 28, 1880. They had ten children in 18 years. He died on July 2, 1931, at the age of 72.
