May 5, 1904 - November 18, 1964
Jimmy Loften Black, 60, of 620 Hilton St., was found dead at his home Saturday morning. The Union County Coroner's said Black apparently died sometime Wednesday. Mr. Black was born May 5, 1904 in Jonesboro and was the son of Mac Alvin and Mary Margaret Hinton Black. He was employed as a clerk for Chicago-Rock Island Railway for 39 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks. Mr. Black had been a resident of El Dorado for the past 49 years and was a World War II Veteran. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church and Men's Bible Class. Survivors include two brothers, W. H. Black of Houston, Tex., and Stephen Black of El Dorado; two sisters, Mrs. Ludie Ripley and Mrs. Lawrence Pesnell, both of El Dorado. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Young's with Dr. Don Harbuck officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery under direction of Young's. Pallbearers were Dick Freeland, J. E. Frank, Howard Hawkins, Leon McKinney, V. G. Pesnell and Rives Lowery. (The El Times - November 23, 1964)
