Dorothy Mae Bird

Dorothy Mae Bird, 83, of Bono, died Oct. 24, 2016, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born May 19, 1933, in Sedgwick, she was the daughter of John and Josephine Veal Nichols. She was a retail clerk and was of the Protestant faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant granddaughter.

Survivors include six children, Jack Edwin Bird and wife Judy, Victoria Lynn Black and Robert Michael Bird, all of California, Frank Bird and wife Nellie, Jonesboro, Dana Eugene Bird and wife Michelle, Washington, and Carla Lee Malone and husband Peanut, Georgia; a brother, John Nichols and wife Arbie, Sedgwick; a sister, Geneva Karas, Michigan; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is Friday at 10 a.m. at Old Military Cemetery, near Sedgwick, with Tom Lamb officiating. Cox Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
