Major B. W. Newsom, 49, of Ruston, La., died Saturday in a Ruston hospital following a brief illness. Maj. Newsom was born Nov. 21, 1921, in El Dorado and was the son of Bloomer White and Ile Marie Newsom. He was a retired Air Force pilot. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jacque Lynn Newsom, Ruston; a son, Lt. Bluns W. Newsom, Craig Air Force Base, Ala.; a daughter, Mrs. Ila Jeanne Taylor, Morgan City, La.; his mother, Mrs. Ile Marie Newsom, Ruston; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Guilbert officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Charles Cook, Gerald Cobb, Lamar Dowling, Owen M. Wright, Paul O'Connor, Robert A. Taylor, Jr., William Baugh and the Rev. Edward Parks. (El Dorado Times - March 1, 1971)
