When Mary Bell McGowan was born on September 29, 1909, in Arkansas, her father, Joseph, was 51, and her mother, Ida, was 42. She had two sons and one daughter with Lucian Earl Jones between 1927 and 1931. She died as a young mother on July 26, 1932, at the age of 22, and was buried in Oppelo, Arkansas.
A head stone was placed at Petite Jean Mountain Cemetery to honor the family and remember her there, her actual burial is in Marlow Stephens Oklahoma
