**obituary
Howard Lee Brewer
December 08, 1932 - June 17, 2020

Howard Lee Brewer age 87, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.

He was born December 8, 1932 to Lee and Audie Rawlings Brewer.

His family relates the following......

Dad often told the following story - “In 1939 my Dad purchased an 80 acre farm, east of Cave City, from the Cobb Family. The doorway at the back of the house had rocks stacked for steps. In warm weather my mother would set on that top step with her churn on the second step. She would churn butter with one hand and hold her Bible with the other while reading it. One day the same summer she received word that one of her nieces was saved at a revival at Bold Springs. That time she said to me that we are all sinners and needed to be saved. If you ever feel you need to be saved, you can pray the sinner’s prayer. That is “God be merciful to me a sinner.” I asked her to say it again. I did not want to forget what she had said. I eased off the step and hurriedly went around the house to the chimney corner and prayed the prayer and have been saved ever since. Praise the Lord!”

He surrendered to preach in August of 1962 and pastored the following churches: Division Street Baptist Church, Springfield MO; Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Portia, AR; Maxville Missionary Baptist Church, Cave City, AR; Swaim’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Huff, AR; Union Missionary Baptist Church, Jesup, AR

Dad traveled many miles, with Bro. Eddie Gene Wright, working on church buildings and camps with the Arkansas Mission Builders. He made several trips to Belgium, with John Giese, Leon Adams and James Landers, working for the Rawlings Foundation to renovate a castle so it could be used for a Seminary and Bible Camp. Many stories of these trips have been told over the past few weeks. Dad was ready to meet his Heavenly Father and his prayer would be that all people the world over would prepare to do the same.

He was preceded by his parents, his wife, Ida Mae Crabtree Brewer, and one grandson, Trevor Walling.

Survivors include his children, Mitchel Brewer and Janny of Cave City; Sheila Daigle and Rory of Batesville; and Miranda Walling and Reggie of Cave City; grandchildren, Mark Rose (Kristin), Jennifer Verkler (Jason), Jonas Anderson (Jessica), Joanna Appleget (Tim) and Lucas Walling; great grandchildren, Jean Rose, Joshua Rose, Tristin Hart, Garistin Ward, Andrew Verkler, Ashlee Verkler, Austin Verkler, Julian Anderson, Jasper Anderson and Nixon Appleget.

Funeral services will be Sunday, June 21, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Missionary Baptist church in Cave City with Bro. Vance Penn, Bro. Eddie Gene Wright and Bro. Ron Canard officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount View Cemetery in Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons.

Memorials can be made to Arkansas Mission Builders, 60 Cole Road, Rison, AR 71665 and Budd Creek Baptist Camp, P.O. Box 876, Heber Springs, AR 72543.
