Stephen was a skilled lad of many interests, he was a talented pianist having studied piano for seven years. Another of his hobbies was building models of ships and boats. His parents treasure a large Cutty Sark Clipper ship Stephen put together from a model set. This abding interest no doubt inspired him to go into the U.S. Navy for Naval Officer Training. '

Unfortunately, at the age of 26 Stephen Walker Deeter died of a heart attack while on running at Navy Offiers training school in Newport, Rhode Island. His remains were returned to Arkansas where he was buried on Petit Jean Mountain.

When Stephen Walker Deeter was born on August 4, 1948, in Hardin, Kentucky, his father, Morton, was 31 and his mother, Mary, was 28. He married on December 21, 1968, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He died on October 12, 1974, in Newport, Rhode Island, at the age of 26, and was buried in Morrilton, Arkansas.
