John Manly Montgomery married Margaret Alice Ferguson on Petit Jean Mt. Margaret Alice Ferguson was born near Spring Hill, Tennessee to George Ferguson and Vesta Mueller Ferguson. Margaret Alice's mother died and her father left her with family when he moved away. Her adopted family brought her to Petit Jean Mt.

John Manly and Margaret Alice had nine children: Effie and Eva Crescent both died as infants. The surviving children were Gladys Easter, Bonnie Love, Ottis Lawton, Hazel Garnet, Betty Gay (Oma), Eugenia (Gerthel Lucille), and Jo Ann (Johnnie). Gladys Easter Married Patrick Henry Hamilton. Bonnie Love married Walter Delile Bratcher. Ottis Lawton married Ruby Edith Gilley. Hazel Garnet died of pneumonia when she was 20 years old. Betty Gay married William Homer Gray of Bradford, Arkansas. Eugenia married Frederick Lacefield. Jo Ann married Kenneth Cocks.

John Manly Montgomery was a farmer and merchant. He owned and operated a general store just east of what is now the Lutheran Camp. Because of his reluctance to collect from his debtors, he was considered a better farmer than merchant. John Manly died in 1911 at the age of 46 years.

After John Manly died, Margaret Alice rented the farm and moved her children to Morrilton. Eventually, Margaret divided the property among her children. Her children and grandchildren still own a portion of the land which had been homesteaded by their ancestors almost 150 years ago. Margaret subsequently married Colonel Gibson.
