Roy Hawkins Gilliam, 77, 1515 N. Mosby St., died Thursday in a local hospital after a brief illness. Botn in Stanton, Tenn, March 12, 1888, he was the son of Robert H. and Minnie Hawkins Gilliam. He was a retired cement finisher and had been an El Dorado resident for 45 years. He was a Baptist and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lena Barron Gilliam; two sons, R. H. Gilliam, Jr., of El Dorado and B. B. Gilliam of Lake Jackson, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. J. R. Orren of Lake Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. Fan Chaney of Pacifica, Calif., and Miss Irma Gilliam of San Diego, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Rumph Mortuary with the Rev. Jerry Bauman officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
