Mr. Ronald G. LaGrone, 67, of Hamburg died Thursday, October 2, 2002, at his residence in Hamburg. A native of Monticello and a Hamburg resident since 1964, he was a graduate of Monticello High School and Northeast Louisiana University's School of Pharmacy. He was an United States Army veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a deacon for the past 15 years and the church treasurer for the past five years. He previously served as Sunday School director and chairman of the Deacon Board.


A community leader, he was on the original committee that started the Hamburg Armadillo Festival. He was a member and former president of the Hamburg Kiwanis Club, an active member of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Hamburg City Council for the past 33 years. He was a local supporter of Hamburg athletics and served as president of the Hamburg Booster Club and was secretary for many years. He was an avid Razorback fan, golfer and quail hunter.

He and his late brother, Fred LaGrone, owned and operated the LaGrone Drug Store in Hamburg for 38 years. He served on the board of directors of the Walsh-Hartland Pharmaceutical Company and a member of the Southeast Arkansas Pharmacy Association, serving as its president for the past four years. He served on the board of directors of the Arkansas State Pharmacy Association for 17 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Hyla Finnell LaGrone; a brother, Fred LaGrone; and a son-in-law, Tab Harrod.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Snyder LaGrone; three daughters, Terri Harrod, Kelli Perry and husband Rob and Staci Hall and husband Harold, all of Hamburg; and eight grandchildren, Brent, Brandon and Hayden Harrod, Tommy, Stevi and Drew Perry and Allie and Jordan Hall.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 6, in the First Baptist Church with Drs. Bobby Pennington and Tommy Cunningham and Rev. Klois Hargis officiating. Pallbearers were Walter Chester, Horace Boyd, Steve Simmons, Jim Moss, Johnnie Mack Nolan, Larry Johnson, Don Davis, Dr. Charles Hicks, Dr. J. D. Rankin, Willard Noble and Bill Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the First Baptist Church, Leon Evans, Tom Chambers, Jim Barker, Charles "Bull" Wells, John William Spivey, Charles White, Johnny Roach, W. J. McKiever, Max Dyson, Bobby Davis, J. D. Higginbotham, Conrad Pennington, Willie Claude Kelley, Harry Allison, Milam "Mutt" Davis, Johnny McMurry, Donald Wayne, Charles Coleman, Jimmy Murphy, Paul West, Jimmy Stell, Jimmy Hargis, Bobby Griffin, W. T. Higginbotham, Billy Gammel, Andy Shaw, LaVon, Pete and James Higginbotham, Ted Pope and Percy Eubanks.

Burial followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery with arrangements by Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.

Patricia “Pat” LaGrone, 85, of Hamburg, died Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. She graduated in 1955 from Grundy Center High School in Grundy City, Iowa and moved to Hamburg in 1964. Mrs. LaGrone was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamburg. She was a Bookkeeper and would often work with her beloved husband, Ronnie, filling prescriptions at LaGrone Drug and Gift. Ronnie was the love of her life and she enjoyed watching Razorback games with him. Mrs. LaGrone kept an immaculate house, was always dressed to a “T” and had her hair fixed perfectly. She had a big heart and wanted to help everyone. Mrs. LaGrone enjoyed golfing with her friends, music, dancing, watching Elvis movies, and having entertaining Bridge parties. She was “NaNa” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved each of them dearly.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Ronald G. LaGrone in 2002; a son-in-law, Tab Harrod in 1997; her mother and step-father, Hazel Henley and Harold Aiken; her father and step-mother, Garland and Margie Snyder and a sister, Peggy Davis.

She is survived by three daughters, Terri Streeter and husband, Dale, Kelli Perry and husband, Rob and Staci Hall and Bobby Gulledge, all of Hamburg; two brothers, David Aiken and wife, Lillian, of Mountain View and Jimmy Aiken and wife, Lou, of Crossett; six grandchildren, Brent Harrod and wife, Brittney, Brandon Harrod and wife, Cassie Jo, Hayden Harrod, Stevi Howard and husband, Troy, Drew Perry and wife, Kacee Jo and Allie Hall; six great-grandchildren, Grayden, Lynlee, Swayze Rey, Brynn, Brett and Bree and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2022, in the Hamburg Cemetery with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hamburg, PO Box 352, Hamburg, AR 71646.
