Mrs. Mildred Tumlison Pamplin, 95, of Portland, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at her grandson's residence. Mrs. Pamplin was a native of Missouri and a resident of Portland for over 65 years. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Portland Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was an avid reader, bird watcher, and she loved nature. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and loved being a friend to all who needed her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Millard Pamplin in 1998; a son, Gene Pamplin in 2003; her parents, James & Emma Vieth Tumlison and three brothers, Alfred (Dude), James Jr. (Jim) and James (Son) Tumilson.
She is survived by two grandsons, David Pamplin and wife, Kristy, of Monticello and Graham Pamplin of Pickens; a special friend, Emma Jean Poole of McGhee; a sister, Nellie High of Gulfport, Mississippi; three great-grandchildren, Cole, Tyler and Leslie Pamplin; two great-great-grandchildren, Hayden & Tristen Pamplin and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2011, in the Hamburg Cemetery with Rev. Carl Mason officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association, 901 University Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72207 or to The Portland Baptist Church, PO Box 86, Portland, AR 71663.
