Ralph Russell McPherson, 79, a retired painting contractor and a resident of Hudson Memorial Nursing Home, died unexpectedly in a local hospital Monday at 9:35 p.m. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the North Highland Assembly of God Church. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Clara Wofford of Stuttgart; a nephew and a niece. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the North Highland Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Murphy Smith officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Active pallbearers were J. H. Hawkins, C. E. Avaritt, T. G. Watkins, E. E. Dumas, M. W. Duke and B. O. Ball. Honorary pallbearers were members of Painters Local No. 529 and of the Men's Bible Class of the North Highland Church. (The El Dorado Times - December 8, 1964)
