Jeb Stuart Calvary

Thomas H. Hobbs was born in Dinwiddie Co., VA, the oldest of ten children born to William Lemuel and Marianna Reese Hobbs and grandson of Thomas and Frances Elizabeth Wills Hobbs. He was a student at Virginia Military Institute when the Civil War broke out and served in Jeb Stuart's Cavalry, CSA. He married Nannie T. Walker, daughter of William W. and Mary A. Willey Walker, in Shelby Co., TN in 1876. She died in 1886 and is buried at Bethuel Cemetery in Shelby Co. He then married Elizabeth E. Volkmar, and the family moved to Marianna after 1890. He was in the timber business.
