July 31, 1886 - August 11, 1965
Mrs. Martha McWilliams Whiddon, 81, of 502 Mahony St., died in a local hospital late Wednesday after a short illness. The widow of Ira Whiddon, she was a member of a pioneer South Arkansas family. Mrs. Whiddon was born in Columbia County July 31, 1884, the daughter of J. S. and Laura McWilliams. She had lived in Union County since early childhood and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Whiddon leaves a nephew, Joe Carroll McWilliams of El Dorado; a grand niece, Mrs. Eugene Bilo of El Dorado, and a grand nephew, Joseph Samuel (Buddy) McWilliams of Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Young's with Dr. Don Harbuck officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. Rayford McLean. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marshall Shackelford, James E. Garner, Ernest Smith, Winfred Craig, Ike Seller, Roger Ellis, Harvey McHenry and R. Burney Wilson. The family will be at 502 Mahony.
